What is a Single Room Ductless Split System? |
A single room system is located on the wall or in a ceiling of a specific room such as a bedroom or living room. This single room unit will provide a comfortable room temperature setting as well as provide clean air for the rooms. The single room unit settings can be set to a level that will keep the occupant comfortable. One of the great things about single room units is the fact that each room can be set to a comfortable setting. You cannot do this with a typical duct unit that will be control be a centrally located thermostat. A lot of times when a typical HVAC unit is controlled by a thermostat you will have different comfort zones throughout your home. Some rooms will be cooler than other rooms. This will not happen when you have a single room ductless unit. You will also have a much quieter operation.

What's a Multi Room Mini Split System? |
Multi room systems are operated in the same manner as single room systems. You will have the same great advantages that you will have with the single room system. In a multi room system you will have an air exchanger in each separate room of your home. Each room can be controlled by the remote that is located in each room. This means that you can have your room at the level you prefer and keep the occupants of the other rooms at the temperatures they prefer. Just like in a single room application the inside unit is fed by an outside condensing unit. In a single room system you have a smaller condensing unit that feeds the single air exchanger. In a multi room system you do not have a single condensing unit for each unit. All of your air exchangers are fed by one larger condensing unit. A multi room system is also a more efficient choice than your typical HVAC unit. You can contact your local HVAC contractor and he will help you to determine the sizes of the units that you will need in your home. If you are considering a single room or a multi room systems visit your local contractor and supplier to see the many different options you have available to you.
